Introducing Languages of My People: A Fruit Counting Adventure

Introducing Languages of My People: A Fruit Counting Adventure

While the manuscript was written a few years ago, publication for Languages of My People: A Fruit Counting Adventure has been in the works for just about 1 year. We wanted to take the time to get everything correct from the pronunciation guides to locations of countries, as well as the best languages to feature. When the original concept was conceived, only 5 languages were incorporated. In thinking more about the African Diaspora, 2 more countries and languages were added.

This multicultural story follows an African American boy and his mother as they travel across the world. On their adventures, they visit France, the Dominican Republic, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Brazil and share popular fruits from each country. With the help of pronunciation guides, readers will learn the numbers 1 through 10 in English, French, Spanish, Swahili, Igbo, Zulu, and Portuguese. They will also see notable landmarks in each country.
