Q & A

What inspired you to write this book?

I was inspired by my own experiences. Like many women, I wanted to have children one day, but I knew the challenges that some women face. I found out years ago that I had fibroids, which can make pregnancy difficult or impossible . Based on the size of these masses, I was advised to have them removed before trying to conceive. I chose to make lifestyle modifications and to pray!

My ultimate hope was for the fibroids to disappear, but that did not happen. To my delight and surprise, pregnancy was not difficult, but I still knew the potential challenges that could come later on. So I prayed daily for my pregnancy and my child. When the fibroids started to die (a very painful process) and I felt a shift in my body, I continued to pray even more for my unborn child.

Knowing of the possibility of a C-section, I kept praying up until the day of delivery. When my child was delivered, I heard his cry, and shortly after they took him to the NICU. I knew I had to pray still that he would be well. After we got home, we prayed over him that he would know who he was. When he later got sick and was hospitalized, we had a team of people praying with us for his recovery.

I learned that prayer is key because prayer allows me to stop worrying and to trust that God will handle it!

I ultimately wrote this book to encourage mothers and children that prayer is one of the most powerful tools in our toolbox. We can pray to God for any and everything because He is our help, hope, and strength to get through whatever situations come our way!

What is your favorite part of this book?

Of course I love the entire book, but one of my favorite parts was when I discussed how we carefully chose our child's name and prepared the house for his arrival (spread 4). In those moments, we really prayed our son's life would have purpose and joy and that he would make impact on this world. These are things we still pray over him years after he arrived.
